Halifax Pride Festival

Once again, Halifax Pride kicks off the Pride Festival with the annual flag raising. With words spoken by our board members and supporters, join us at Grand Parade July 16 to celebrate community, authenticity, visibility, and of course, Pride. 

In a time of rising hate and discrimination towards the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. Pride was born in resistance, and that tradition continues through the incredible activists, organizers, and political representatives working every day to protect Queer and Trans rights. Join MLA Lisa Lachance for a panel and open conversation about building community, taking political action, and shaping a Nova Scotia where everyone belongs. Join the Wabanaki Two-Spirit Alliance for a fireside chat with acclaimed Two-Spirit artist, performer, and storyteller Nykitene.

This thoughtful conversation will explore Two-Spirit identities, culture, community, and the importance of creating spaces where Two-Spirit people can be seen, celebrated, and supported. All are welcome to attend, listen, learn, and connect.

Nova Scotia Legal Aid (NSLA) is proud to announce a very special event, Stories and Sparkle: An Indigenous and Pride Crafting Circle. Building on NSLA’s annual tradition of creating signs in advance of the Pride Parade, this event will combine hands-on crafting with engaging Indigenous storytelling. Participants will have the opportunity to design Pride posters and parade signs, as well as decorate sunglasses to wear during the parade. Throughout the evening, attendees will hear from Mi’kmaq and Two-Spirit guest speakers who will share stories and knowledge on topics such as Mi’kmaq regalia, Two-Spirit identities, and Indigenous history and culture. These presentations will provide meaningful opportunities for education, dialogue, and reflection while celebrating the diversity and resilience of Indigenous-Queer communities. This workshop is all ages and FREE! In lieu of an admission fee, please bring non-perishable food items for the Mi'kmaq Native Friendship Centre Food Bank.

Join us for the 2026 Halifax Pride Parade! July 18 at 12pm, starting at the east end (roundabout) of Cogswell St, the parade will head east down Cogswell St, turning south onto Barrington St, west onto Spring Garden Rd, north onto South Park St, and end on Bell Rd/Ahern Ave, at the Garrison Grounds. This is a loud and proud celebration of all things 2SLGBTQIA+, so join in for all the fun! You can also swing by the Halifax Pride info booth to get your face painted by KC’s face painting!

In anticipation of the annual Pride March July 20, join us on the Garrison Grounds at 12pm to create signs that showcase Queer resistance and resilience, so you can show support for the causes you want to champion. Limited poster supplies will be available, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own as well.

Join Halifax Pride and the Elderberries for this elder hangout. This closed-space hangout is a chance for Nova Scotia’s 50+ 2SLGBTQIA+ community to connect with one another, sharing memories, experiences, and friendship. 

Join Halifax Pride for the annual Pride March, where words of action and protest will be spoken by community members as we march to Peace & Friendship Park for a candlelight vigil. 

Following the Pride March, join us for a candlelight vigil at Peace & Friendship Park as we commemorate and mourn community, friends, and found family who we have lost. Good Dear Good will play music in tribute to lost community members.

Parade: Queer Acts of Love and Resistance presented by the Nova Scotia Office of Equity and Anti‑Racism and Halifax Pride, in collaboration with the Canadian Museum of Immigration.

We are excited to present a screening of the National Film Board documentary Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance.

Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance captures pivotal moments that sparked Canada’s 2SLGBTQIA+ movement, honouring the activists and elders whose resistance led to the rights we have today.

Through rarely seen archival footage and first-person accounts, audiences are brought to the frontlines of the struggle. From police raids to early drag shows, community organizing to the House of Commons - the complex history of our country’s diverse communities is brought to life. Key milestones illustrate the power of taking it into the streets and underscore how easily the rights we’ve fought for can be revoked.

This free screening is being presented by the Nova Scotia Office of Equity and Anti‑Racism and Halifax Pride, in collaboration with the Canadian Museum of Immigration.

The Halifax Gay Men's Chorus is hosting "We're here! We're Queer!", a queer choral event featuring "The Women next Door", "Outloud" and "Quoir with a Q". Come join us and raise your voice with us!

Come join HEAL Nova Scotia this Pride season for our third Pride Bingo, presented by Atlantic Lottery! On July 21st, 2026, join us at Garrison Brewing from 7 PM to 10 PM for a night you won't forget! We'll once again be joined by host Anna Mona-Pia, as well as powerhouses Mike Hunt and Proshenna Rett for a wonderful night of drag and delight! This fundraiser for the Health Equity Alliance of Nova Scotia will feature prizes for winners, incredible performances, a lively atmosphere & plenty of laughs. Come support local drag and show out for a good cause! ASL will be provided, the venue is accessible and tickets on Showpass are $25 plus fees or $30 at the door -- While they last. This event has been a sell-out its first two years, so don't wait!

This installment of the Lunch & Learn panel series is brought to you by McInnes Cooper, and will guide attendees through an insightful discussion around estate planning, with plenty of chances to ask questions at the end. 

This closed space, fun-filled hangout is for our QTBIPOC community members to hangout and make memories with old friends and new! You can also sign up for a 2SQTBIPOC skills building focus group aimed at tackling systemic barriers to equality, accessibility, and professional growth within the 2SLGBTQIA+ non-profit sector in Nova Scotia. 

This is a Blood drive designated for Drag Artists and supporters. All people donating blood at this clinic are encouraged to be in Drag. It will also be open to people who identify as part of the 2slgbtqia+ community. This event to to promote Drags commitment to community and to help save lives

This community-academic panel invites an honest and intergenerational conversation about growing older within 2SLGBTQ+ communities, centring the voices and lived experiences of older adults. We will begin by introducing findings from our study on 2SLGBTQ+ aging in Nova Scotia, which includes interviews with more than 30 2SLGBTQ+ older adults from across the province, highlighting key historical events that have shaped the participants aging experiences, alongside their hopes for the future. Panel members will expand upon the findings, reflecting on how historic and contemporary events shape well-being in later life. We will then turn to strategies to strengthen health, social, and community systems for 2SLGBTQ+ older adults. The panel will conclude with an interactive, intergenerational art activity inviting audience members to reflect on the theme, “Honouring 2SLGBTQ+ Histories to Imagine 2SLGBTQ+ Futures.”

The conversation on growing older in 2SLGBTQ+ communities is particularly salient in the context of Nova Scotia’s rapidly aging population and systemic erasure of 2SLGBTQ+ history. As we live longer, it becomes increasingly important to learn how to promote equity in aging experiences and lifelong joy and resilience within the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Knowledge sharing and the re-telling of lived experience is a vital step in this process toward well-being later in life. Our current cohort of 2SLGBTQ+ older adults are the first to ‘age out’, or be able to age as their authentic selves, yet there is still a lack of opportunity for intergenerational connection within our communities. Our goal with this panel is create a dialogue about 2SLGBTQ+ aging and to encourage 2SLGBTQ+ people in Nova Scotia to think about our how our history impacts our aging futures.

A fun free-spirited tradition that has been held locally for over a decade (and globally for even longer!), where attendees are welcome to strip down and shed their shame as they take to the city streets in celebration of our natural world and the beauty of all bodies! You can Ride or March, whether with your bike, wheelchair, scooter, or your own two feet; whatever gets your body moving! Come join in or show your support by cheering us on! In a time when so many bodies are policed or made the subject of political rhetoric and autonomy taken away, one of the many positive messages we want to promote is that nudity should not be viewed as inherently sexual, but rather should be accepted as a beautiful part of life and a symbol of freedom. Our goal is to have 100 attendees this year! So spread the word and get excited! And if you're interested in helping out, we can always use more volunteers!

Come meet your new best friend/creative collaborator/co-conspirator/soulmate/lover/unrequited crush at the Mask4Mask Pride Social! 🌈 This event is to help build connections and community between people who continue to mask in public spaces, and take steps to prevent the spread of COVID. We’ll have some light facilitation & conversational prompts throughout the night to keep things flowing, with lots of room for fostering organic connections. For this event: please mask with an KN95 mask or better (free masks available at the event), rapid test the day of the event if possible, and stay home if feeling sick.
