Spectrum Connect: Identity & Pride with Art
Spectrum Connect: Where Two-Spirit, Trans, & Non-Binary Voices Unite Identity & Pride with Art 🌈 This month’s session will focus on exploring our identities and what Pride means to us through prompts (to get us thinking) and a guided art-based activity meant to help us visually represent our identity, gender journey, and who we truly are. This can be done through writing or a visual art medium like a drawing. We will also have lots of time and space for shared conversation and peer connection. All art materials will be provided by Healthy Minds Cooperative! Whether you’re just beginning your journey or have years of lived experience, you belong here.

Stories and Sparkle: An Indigenous and Pride Crafting Circle
Nova Scotia Legal Aid (NSLA) is proud to announce a very special event, Stories and Sparkle: An Indigenous and Pride Crafting Circle. Building on NSLA’s annual tradition of creating signs in advance of the Pride Parade, this event will combine hands-on crafting with engaging Indigenous storytelling. Participants will have the opportunity to design Pride posters and parade signs, as well as decorate sunglasses to wear during the parade. Throughout the evening, attendees will hear from Mi’kmaq and Two-Spirit guest speakers who will share stories and knowledge on topics such as Mi’kmaq regalia, Two-Spirit identities, and Indigenous history and culture. These presentations will provide meaningful opportunities for education, dialogue, and reflection while celebrating the diversity and resilience of Indigenous-Queer communities. This workshop is all ages and FREE! In lieu of an admission fee, please bring non-perishable food items for the Mi'kmaq Native Friendship Centre Food Bank.

Kinky Colours 13
Saturday July 18, 2026 9:00pm - Sunday July 19, 2026 1:00am ADT
We'll be taking over a ballroom on the 3rd floor of the Best Western Plus, Chocolate Lake Hotel Halifax (250 St Margarets Bay Rd, Halifax NS) for our 139th event to date! Grab your friends and come join us on Saturday July 18th, 2026 from 9pm-1am we'll be having our 13th annual Kinky Colours event. This party will be a part of the 2026 Halifax Pride Festival and it is always one of the BIGGEST and CRAZIEST Nightshade events and this year it will be happening the same day as the Pride Parade so you're not going to want to miss this! So be sure to wear sexy neons or whites to react to the ultra violet lights! We've got waaay too many black lights and plan to flood every inch of the ballroom at the Chocolate Lake Hotel with glowing fun! When you're digging through the closet or out shopping for that perfect outfit but you're not sure what will glow and what won't, there are free Ultra Violet apps you can download for your mobile device! Now although there is no dress code, it is strongly suggested that you dress in theme or some type of alternative wear is suggested. If you don't know what to wear then black clothing is strongly suggested but again try to dress in something you would consider sexy and edgy. Dress sexy and cool, cause it does get hot and sweaty in there. Due to the nature of the venue, public decency rules do apply. Drink pricing can be found in the event details on our website. Cash only bar. The hotel has an ATM in the lobby but we have emptied it at every Nightshade event so come prepared! Please drink responsibly. Each year our Pride parties have Sold Out weeks before each event so buy early or risk missing out! Tickets are available for only $25+tax and purchases can be made online through our website: https://NightshadeHalifax.com Coat check service will be $3 for the night which includes in and out privileges for one hanger of clothes and/or one bag. There will be a self-coat check area but this will be not be monitored and is at use at your own risk. We will be adhering to all government regulations at our Nightshade events. In addition extra cleaning procedures will be put into place for both the venue and for our own equipment. Hand sanitizer stations will be readily available as well of course there is plenty soap and water in the washrooms. Valid government identification (19+) is required to gain entry. If you are sick please stay home! We have done away with our regular 'no refunds' policy and replaced it with a full credit of your ticket price. If you inform us that you will not be in attendance prior to us opening the doors at 9pm than we will issue you a full credit for one of our future events. Please check with the hotel for their cancellation policies. If for any reason we are forced to reduce capacity or cancel this event, causing you to not be able to attend then you will be issued a full credit of your ticket price for one of our future events. You may also purchase optional Cancellation Insurance for $1 per ticket which would see the full price of your ticket ($25 ticket or $28 ticket price w/coatcheck) refunded to you if you can not attend the event for any reason, so long as you contact us about the cancellation prior to the start of the event. The Nightshade dance floor will be a flood of bodies as our new DJ, Gyrrrl on Decks, is stepping up and taking over the Nightshade sound system! “In the beginning, at the end of nowhere in the South-West corner of NS, about 24 years ago, Gyrrrl on Decks fell in love with curating music and making the dance floor vibe. When the night shines like day, and the wide starry eyed come out from under the darkness and into the light to play, this multi-genre hot mess spins your requests to impress all the while feeling so #blessed." Nightshade will be actively on the search for local DJ talent to perform at our events. So please reach out with suggestions of amazing Halifax DJs you would love to see on stage at our kinky costume parties! We will have a body painting station setup where guests can paint each other or make use of our talented body paint artist Kai, who will be available to pain you for a negotiated donation. There will be some hardcore equipment brought in for those who know how to use it. For everyone's safety it will be well lit and monitored throughout the night by our DMs. This is a no camera event with the exception of event photographers, please message to apply to shoot for the event. Hotel rooms for the Nightshade Kinky Colours, event are at a special rate of $229 but only until the cut of date Thursday June 19th, 2025. To reserve a room in our block you must call and say you are with the group rate Pride. There is a chance to still book in our block after this date as well so make the call and see if they can squeeze your late ass into our group of rooms! Booking with our Block is ideal as your room will be surround by other people attending the party. It will thus be easier to connect with others and you will receive fewer noise complaints than if you were to book a room elsewhere in the hotel. Nightshade does not profit from room rental, so if you can find a better deal do what is best for you. Note that complaints against you, noise or otherwise, may lead to you being banned from future events as Nightshade wants to keep in good standing with the hotel. Hotel reservations can be made by calling central reservations (800) 528-1234 or the hotel directly (902) 477-5611 ext 0 For more details about booking hotel rooms for this event visit this link: https://nightshadehalifax.com/HotelRoomRentals.html Nightshade makes no commissions and profits in no way from room rentals. Here are some other up coming themes but keep in mind that dates, themes and the venue may change but this is what we have planned: • Kinky Halloween & Dead Sexy Costume Party - Saturday October 31st, 2026 (DJ Mike G) • Kinky NYE 2K27 - Thursday December 31st, 2026 (DJ Gyrrrrl on Decks) Be sure to stop and say hello that night to myself (Chris Awesome), our staff, performers, photographers & volunteers. Film Screening: Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance
Tuesday July 21, 2026 6:30pm - 9:00pm ADT
Parade: Queer Acts of Love and Resistance presented by the Nova Scotia Office of Equity and Anti‑Racism and Halifax Pride, in collaboration with the Canadian Museum of Immigration.

We are excited to present a screening of the National Film Board documentary Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance.

Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance captures pivotal moments that sparked Canada’s 2SLGBTQIA+ movement, honouring the activists and elders whose resistance led to the rights we have today.

Through rarely seen archival footage and first-person accounts, audiences are brought to the frontlines of the struggle. From police raids to early drag shows, community organizing to the House of Commons - the complex history of our country’s diverse communities is brought to life. Key milestones illustrate the power of taking it into the streets and underscore how easily the rights we’ve fought for can be revoked.

This free screening is being presented by the Nova Scotia Office of Equity and Anti‑Racism and Halifax Pride, in collaboration with the Canadian Museum of Immigration.

Date and Time: July 21, 7pm

Naked Rockband Game Night: Pride Edition
Tuesday July 21, 2026 8:00pm - Wednesday July 22, 2026 12:00am ADT
A special Pride Edition of our weekly night of retro games and nudity! Drums, guitars and vocals, come play the classic video game, Rock Band or soak in the hot tub or play some downstairs. Tuesdays are more relaxed than the weekend parties but still plenty of fun! Naked Rockband is the one event that our core group of members always talks about. They invite other members they meet who 'fit the vibe' and have turned this small social hangout night into a weekday party night. The "Naked" in Naked Rockband is 100% optional and people are fine fully clothed although most people wearing clothes go more for underwear, bathing suit or bathrobe. This weekly event is our 'cheap night' at Night Spa where folks get 4 hours of full Night Spa fun for just $15. We normally have 30-40 people out for this each week but expect this number to be a little higher due to it being freaking Pride! Night Spa is Halifax's only mixed gender, private members, clothing optional Spa. There's a hot tub, sauna, showers, and many shared spaces. Space will be limited for these nights. Members and their guests can rent a locker for this evening but we will not be renting out rooms. So come play some games and have a nice relaxing time socializing with other members of the community. 19+ As a private, members only venue, only approved Night Spa members and their guests may attend. This is both for safety and legal purposes. Our vetting process is not a formality and generally takes 2-5 days for us to reply. We take this process seriously so let us know who you are and why you wish to become a member. We can not allow walk-ins or approve same day applications so apply now to attend in the future. Visit our website today to see if Night Spa would be right for you.

Lunch & Learn Panel: Thriving, Not Just Surviving: 2SLGBTQIA+ Mental Health, Joy, and Community Care
Thursday July 23, 2026 12:00pm - 1:00pm ADT
2SLGBTQIA+ communities face disproportionately high rates of anxiety, depression, suicidality, and barriers to affirming mental health care due to discrimination, stigma, and systemic inequities. At the same time, queer and trans communities have cultivated powerful traditions of resilience, creativity, and collective healing. Thriving, Not Just Surviving is a panel conversation that brings these realities together—examining the ongoing challenges while centering the joy, connection, and cultural knowledge that sustain 2SLGBTQIA+ wellbeing.
Grounded in lived experience, community expertise, and mental health practice, this panel explores what thriving looks like for queer and trans people beyond survival. Through discussion of joy as a mental health practice, trauma and healing, chosen family, cultural expression, and sustainable activism, panelists will highlight both the systemic forces impacting mental health and the community-led strategies that foster belonging, resilience, and care. The session reframes mental health as a shared responsibility rooted in solidarity and collective flourishing rather than an individual burden.
This conversation aligns with Halifax Pride’s commitment to education, equity, and celebrating the depth and diversity of 2SLGBTQIA+ life. It invites participants into a strengths-based, culturally informed dialogue that honours both the realities and the brilliance of queer and trans communities.

Thursday July 23, 2026 6:00pm - 10:00pm ADT
Blood on the Clocktower is a bluffing game enjoyed by players on opposing teams of Good and Evil, now with a custom script for Pride! "In the quiet village of Ravenswood Bluff, ‌a demon walks amongst you..." Join Andrey as Storyteller for this spooky mystery game! NEW! This session features a custom script to celebrate Pride! Beginners always welcome but this will be a more advanced script! During a hellish thunderstorm, on the stroke of midnight, there echoes a bone-chilling scream. The townsfolk rush to investigate and find the town storyteller murdered, their body impaled on the hands of the clocktower, blood dripping onto the cobblestones below. A Demon is on the loose, murdering by night and disguised in human form by day. Some have scraps of information. Others have abilities that fight the evil or protect the innocent. But the Demon and its evil minions are spreading lies to confuse and breed suspicion. Will the good townsfolk put the puzzle together in time to execute the true demon and save themselves? Or will evil overrun this once peaceful village? Blood on the Clocktower is a bluffing game enjoyed by 5 to 15 players on opposing teams of Good and Evil, overseen by a Storyteller player who conducts the action and makes crucial decisions. The goal of the game is to successfully deduce and execute the demons before they outnumber the townsfolk. During a 'day' phase players socialize openly and whisper privately to trade knowledge or spread lies, culminating in a player's execution if a majority suspects them of being Evil. At 'night' time, players close their eyes and are woken one at a time by the Storyteller to gather information, spread mischief, or kill. Admission is $10 each (+tax and Eventbrite fees), granting everyone access to both the event, and our collection of 600+ board games before and after the event (provided there is space)! Event is ALL AGES, but please note that any guests under 14 must be accompanied by a chaperone. REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS Seating is limited so please let us know if you can no longer make it! If you have to cancel for any reason, please email [email protected]. Tickets cancelled more than 48 hours in advance of the event are eligible for a full refund on ticket price. Eventbrite fees are non-refundable. *Note that admission punch passes cannot be used for prepaid events *Note the Student Special admission price does not apply to events *Note that a minimum of 5 people are needed to run this session. This is an ALL MEMBERS EVENT. We are inviting all 5700+ Night Spa members to attend this event but you can expect 15-25+ people to be in attendance. For legal and safety reasons you must be a Night Spa member or the guest of a member in order to attend. This event is for those who like to take matters into their own hands. We will gather twice this night at set times to sit and view each other intensely. Everyone is to keep their hands to themselves while in the circle as we enjoy each other's company. This will be our third time hosting this theme, the last being during Winter Fest 2026. It was standing room only as we got things started. With some minor adjustments. 8:30pm, upstairs will now be the start time of the first gathering. We will sit in the social area seats and watch each other with pleasure. 10pm will be the second planned gathering but we will be moving things downstairs for a darker version of the same thing. If people want to connect outside of these times/spaces they are welcomed to. If it is your first time at Night Spa know that you'll need a tour that takes about 15 minutes, so be on time or you may miss the first circle! 19+ Not a Night Spa member yet? Please take a moment and apply to be a member. There is no cost to apply or upfront fee to being a Night Spa member, members and guests rent a locker or private room as they attend each event. As a private, members only venue, only approved Night Spa members and their guests may attend.

Lunch & Learn Panel: Honouring 2SLGBTQ+ Histories to Imagine 2SLGBTQ+ Futures
Friday July 24, 2026 12:00pm - 1:00pm ADT
This community-academic panel invites an honest and intergenerational conversation about growing older within 2SLGBTQ+ communities, centring the voices and lived experiences of older adults. We will begin by introducing findings from our study on 2SLGBTQ+ aging in Nova Scotia, which includes interviews with more than 30 2SLGBTQ+ older adults from across the province, highlighting key historical events that have shaped the participants aging experiences, alongside their hopes for the future. Panel members will expand upon the findings, reflecting on how historic and contemporary events shape well-being in later life. We will then turn to strategies to strengthen health, social, and community systems for 2SLGBTQ+ older adults. The panel will conclude with an interactive, intergenerational art activity inviting audience members to reflect on the theme, “Honouring 2SLGBTQ+ Histories to Imagine 2SLGBTQ+ Futures.”

The conversation on growing older in 2SLGBTQ+ communities is particularly salient in the context of Nova Scotia’s rapidly aging population and systemic erasure of 2SLGBTQ+ history. As we live longer, it becomes increasingly important to learn how to promote equity in aging experiences and lifelong joy and resilience within the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Knowledge sharing and the re-telling of lived experience is a vital step in this process toward well-being later in life. Our current cohort of 2SLGBTQ+ older adults are the first to ‘age out’, or be able to age as their authentic selves, yet there is still a lack of opportunity for intergenerational connection within our communities. Our goal with this panel is create a dialogue about 2SLGBTQ+ aging and to encourage 2SLGBTQ+ people in Nova Scotia to think about our how our history impacts our aging futures.

Pride Femmes & Themmes
Friday July 24, 2026 7:00pm - 10:00pm ADT
A special night for our Female, Non-Binary, and Trans Night Spa members, and their guests. This event does require you to be on the guest list 💕 We only host 3 or 4 of these special Fem events a year and our Pride events are by far our busies, so make your plans and book your spot soon! So join us for an amazing night of Femmes & Themmes energy! Night Spa members who attend the Pride Femmes & Themmes can choose to stay for the Queer Hot Tub Party afterwards from 10pm-3am for only an additional $20. This is actually cheaper than attending the Queer Hot Tub party on it's own! You can pre-pay now to stay or decide how you feel after the party, either way it's just $20 to stay. 19+ Night Spa opened in Fall 2022 after the previous male only bathhouse at this location went out of business. Our new more inclusive and safety focused policies have brought new life into an outdated business concept. Night Spa is not for everyone, and we're not trying to be, we are a queer focused clothing optional social club. We want people to do well in our space and our application process helps us to know if we would be a good fit for you. As a private, members only venue, only approved Night Spa members and their guests may attend. This is both for safety and legal purposes. Night Spa - Queer Hot Tub Party
Friday July 24, 2026 10:00pm - Saturday July 25, 2026 3:00am ADT
It's the 2nd weekend of the 2026 Halifax Pride Festival so grab your friends and come party with us at Night Spa! The hot tub will be set to high and the lounge set to chill as you kick back, relax and make some new friends. It's Pride in Halifax and we're going to party HARD at our bathhouse! Spa members and their guests are welcome to attend 2 parties this night starting at 10pm and ending at 3am. These 2 parties overlap so you'll get to meet most everyone whether you come to one or both parties! It's a pricing thing for those whom don't want to pay for the whole night. Come early/leave early, come late/leave late or stay for the whole thing, it's your choice! Night Spa is now in it's 4th year of operations and opened after the previous bathhouse at that same location went out of business. There has been a bathhouse at 2199 Gottingen St since 2003 although it has gone under several names and owners over the years this building has been a queer hot spot for 23 years now. Sadly we are at risk of losing our home to a non-profit who the city has funded to purchase and renovate the building for their own uses that would put an end to our community functions. For those looking to help us save our space, we do have a Night Spa GoFundMe up and we are working with some very kind community members, about real estate investments of one type or another, to save Night Spa. In many ways, Night Spa is not your traditional bathhouse. Our new more inclusive and safety focused policies have brought new life and community back into this once loved space. Night Spa is not for everyone, and we're not trying to be, we are a queer focused clothing optional social club. We want people to do well in our space and our application process helps us to know if we would be a good fit for you. Some people can get overwhelmed entering into a new place not knowing the people or certain terms they may be using from the queer and alternative lifestyles communities. As a private, members only venue, only approved Night Spa members and their guests may attend. This is both for safety and legal purposes.

Halifax Naked Peace Protest Ride & March
Sunday July 26, 2026 12:00pm - 2:00pm ADT
A fun free-spirited tradition that has been held locally for over a decade (and globally for even longer!), where attendees are welcome to strip down and shed their shame as they take to the city streets in celebration of our natural world and the beauty of all bodies! You can Ride or March, whether with your bike, wheelchair, scooter, or your own two feet; whatever gets your body moving! Come join in or show your support by cheering us on! In a time when so many bodies are policed or made the subject of political rhetoric and autonomy taken away, one of the many positive messages we want to promote is that nudity should not be viewed as inherently sexual, but rather should be accepted as a beautiful part of life and a symbol of freedom. Our goal is to have 100 attendees this year! So spread the word and get excited! And if you're interested in helping out, we can always use more volunteers!

Masc: Mens & Thems Bathhouse Pride Wrap-up Afternoon
Sunday July 26, 2026 4:00pm - 8:00pm ADT
As the 2026 Halifax Pride Festival comes to a close, we invite the cis-men, as well as the trans and non-binary folk, out for an afternoon of play and relaxation. Join us as Night Spa wraps up its festival events with one last afternoon of delight. As a private, members only venue, only approved Night Spa members and their guests may attend. This is both for safety and legal purposes. Our vetting process is not a formality and generally takes 2-5 days for us to reply. We take this process seriously so let us know who you are and why you wish to become a member. We can not allow walk-ins or approve same day applications so apply now to attend in the future. Masc, short for Masculine is Night Spa’s special night for Men & Thems. Think of it as a more conventional bathhouse experience. Consent focused social nights, filled with flirting, fun & some hardcore play! We recognize that in the past this venue was traditionally for gay men only and this night is a focus on returning some of that space that was taken from that community. While not just for cis-men this night will be focused on those looking for masculine on masculine connections. 2199 Gottingen St has been a queer bathhouse since 2003. It has gone under a few different names in the past, Seadogs, Torpedo, Seadogs (again) but is now Night Spa. This is still a queer bathhouse but now we strive to be more inclusive. Our mixed gender events are open to everyone regardless of their gender, sexuality or however they may identify but some of our events, such as Masc, are focused on specific types of connections and thus limit who may attend. Visit our website today to see if Night Spa would be right for you.
