Gay Gardens: A Pride Themed Drawing Workshop
Celebrate Pride at the MacPhee Centre with a relaxed hands‑on drawing workshop exploring colourful flowers and leafy plants! In this workshop participants will learn simple still‑life techniques that make drawing feel relaxed and creative. From observing shapes, sketching what you see, and adding expressive details, participants will be invited to set up easels in our garden or alongside our hydroponic tower and literally draw inspiration from nature. From pansies to green carnations and Lavender Menace, we will also explore how flowers have and continue to be powerful symbols of joy and resistance for the LGBTQIA+ community. This workshop is supported by Claudia Chender, MLA Dartmouth South, Leader of the Official Opposition NSNDP Please note that this workshop prioritizes youth participants but will also open to the general public.

Wide Open Decks
Sunday July 19, 2026 6:00pm - 9:00pm ADT
Do you wanna try DJing in the wild? You’re in luck—we are hosting a FREE ALL AGES version of their WIDE OPEN DECKS! Either bring a USB with music files on it, a laptop with Serato installed or just bring yourself to this accessible, inclusive, low-pressure learning environment. Your cheerleaders and loved ones are super welcome too. The Halifax Curling Club will have its lounge canteen open for business! This is a dry and sober-encouraged space. However, come as you are. We host hands-on heartfelt events where our loving-kindness comes from a harm reductionist, intersectional awareness-focused, and trauma-informed place. Inclusive Environments and Celebrating Differences are the standard. We believe that disabled people, queer people, gender-diverse people, women, girls, marginalized-underrepresented people and anyone who is in the Global Majority deserve to bravely reclaim music and dancing-focused spaces of joy and community because if you want to be here—know that you belong here.
